WEEK 28

Continuation of skills from 1st Semester

2.1.1 Basic geometric elements and terms including points, rays, lines, segments, sides, edges, faces, vertices, radius, diameter, and angles  2.3.4 How lines of symmetry relate to shapes

 

POS- Students will analyze structures of geometric figures.

1.1.3 The basic purposes of the government of the United States are the establishment of order, security, the protection of the rights of individuals, and the attainment of common goals as specifically listed in the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution

 

POS- Students will recognize the three levels of government.

Magnetism

1.1.25 Recognize and demonstrate the relationship between elements of music and expressive qualities of movement.

 

POS- Students will use elements of music while performing, singing, instrument playing, moving, listening, reading, writing, and creating.

 

WEEK 29

Continuation of skills from 1st Semester

2.1.4 Symmetry, congruence, and similar figures  2.2.2 Use symmetry to construct a geometric design

 

POS-  Students will investigate geometric relationship through manipulatives and drawings.

1.2.1 The three levels of government are local, state, and national.  1.2.3 Every level of government has specific offices associated with each branch that vary in title, but contain similar duties

 

POS- Students will identify the branches of government at each level and recognize the offices associated with the branches.

1.3.3 Electricity in circuits can produce light, heat, sound, and magnetic effects. 

 

POS- Students will understand that electrical currents move through electrical circuits. Electrical circuits require a complete conducting path through which an electrical current can pass.

2.1.2 Basic two-dimensional shapes including circles, triangles, all quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and octagons. 2.3.1 How two-dimensional shapes are alike or different

1.6.3 There are procedures for dealing with potentially unsafe and threatening situations.

WEEK 32

AH 3.1.33 Identify and discuss elements of production and elements of performance in a variety of works.  3.2.31 Discuss the effects of time and place on dramatic works.

 

POS- Students will use appropriate terminology to discuss elements of drama such as plot, character, visuals, and acting.

2.2.5 Use nonstandard and standard units to measure weight, length, perimeter, area, and angles. 2.2.6 Use standard units to measure volume of rectangular prisms, liquid capacity, money, time, and temperature.

 

POS- Students will compare and explore non-standard units for measuring angles.  Students will add and subtract time.

WEEK 33

AH 3.1.31Identify and discuss the dramatic elements in literature, films, and plays. 3.1.34 Identify and describe basic scenery, props, and costumes that would be appropriate for the plot and characters in a short script or story.  3.1.35 Identify and describe characters, their relationships, and their settings and environments related to a script, scenario, or classroom dramatization.

 

2.2.6 Use standard units to measure volume of rectangular prisms, liquid capacity, money, time, and temperature.

 

POS- Students will read and record temperatures to the nearest degree.

1.3.3 In order for a democratic form of government to function, citizens must play an active and responsible role. 5.2 The history of the United States is a chronicle of a diverse people and the nation they formed.

 

1.3.1 The major body systems are affected by diet, exercise, and rest.  1.3.2 There are good health and hygiene practices that affect self and others and assist in preventing the spread of diseases.  1.5.2 There are numerous benefits of exercise on the body.

 

POS- Students will practice good health habits and determine how they affect self and others.  Students will explain the relationship of exercise to fitness and

 

wellness.

 

WEEK 34

AH 3.1.36 Use appropriate drama terminology to reflect on, interpret, revise, and critique personal dramatic creations and those of others.  3.1.41 Create and perform using creative dramatics.  3.3.7 Identify and compare the similarities and differences between audiences attending live performances and audiences viewing theatre, film and TV.

2.2.5 Use nonstandard and standard units to measure weight, length, perimeter, area, and angles

 

POS- Students will measure and find area and perimeter weight, length, perimeter, area, and angles.

1.3.2 The U.S. government guarantees certain rights such as those found in the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution  5.2.5 Symbols, slogans, monuments/buildings, patriotic songs, poems, and selected readings are used to describe or illustrate important ideas and events in Kentucky and American history.

 

POS- Students will understand that individuals have rights and responsibilities that change when people assume different roles in different groups. Students will understand that specific symbols, slogans, buildings, and monuments represent ideas and events in Kentucky’s history.

 

1.4.1 Nutritious foods play a role in the growth of healthy bodies.  1.4.2 The food guide pyramid has an organizational structure that recommends the number of servings at each level.  1.4.3 Nutritious snack choices are preferable to snack foods for health and well being.

 

POS- Students will examine food guide pyramid to determine appropriate servings and plan simple menus.  Students will describe how good nutrition helps develop healthy individuals.

 

WEEK 35

POS- Students will measure and find perimeter of regular/irregular shapes; and measure and find the area of rectangle.

American Revolution

2.3.1 Various human needs are met through interaction in and among social groups.  2.4.1 As cultures emerge and develop, conflict and competition may occur.

 

POS- Students will recognize how tensions and conflict can develop between and among

 

individuals, groups, and institutions.

 

1.3.3 There are strategies to promote good health and prevent childhood illnesses and communicable and noncommunicable diseases.  1.6.3 There are procedures for dealing with potentially unsafe and threatening situations.

 

POS-  Students will describe the impact of diet, exercise, and rest on health and disease

 

prevention.  Students will explain and exhibit personal safety strategies.

 

WEEK 36

POS- Students will exchange units within a measurement system                     (2 feet = 24 inches)

 

 

1.6.1 There are health and safety hazards to recognize and avoid at home, school, and play.  1.6.2 Safe traffic and transportation practices help decrease injuries.  1.6.4 There are procedures for obtaining emergency assistance.

 

POS- Students will describe safe traffic/transportation practices.  Students will identify health and safety hazards at home, school, and play.  Students will demonstrate procedures for basic emergency assistance.
