Elementary is speeding ahead in the Information
Technology Age. We have a networked computer lab
with 29 PCs (Compaq) computers, one laser
printer, and two Epson laser quality printers.
Students are taught basic uses and
applications of the computer. The curriculum is
integrated in the computer lab on a regular
basis. During this time the homeroom teacher and
our certified lab teacher collaborate to
integrate technology into the classroom
curriculum.
Nancy
Elementary's library media center is also linked
to the network and to the Internet. The students
have access to five computers in the media
center. The students use the technology in the
media center for Internet and electronic
research, the Accelerated Reader, Follett's
automated card catalog, Microsoft Office, as
well as other software applications. The library
media center is fully automated with circulation
and card catalog.
Every
homeroom has at least three networked computers
which have Internet access. Our goal is to
have a minimum of three computers in every classroom in the
building. Each classroom has a television (the
weekly news show is broadcast school wide) and a
telephone. The telephones are equipped for
internal and external calling. This
works great for parent conferencing and
emergencies.
Every
homeroom classroom has been equipped with
Promethean Boards during this 2007-08 school
year. Teachers are able to use these
boards to present interactive lessons to
students. Students and teachers are
able to write on the board using ActivSoftware
and the Activ Stylus. The sound has never
been better in our classes thanks to the
addition of Audio Enhancement Devices and sound
systems.
