The Pulaski County School System has employed a character education program that focuses on twelve guiding principles of exceptional character.  Each month, the district focuses on a different character word and incorporates it into a Character-Centered Teaching initiative.  Nancy Elementary, along with Memorial Education Center is host for the December word, "Compassion".

Compassion is the understanding of the needs and the feelings of others and caring about other people.

"Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them."

-The Dalai Lama
